The Foursquare Gospel Church on Thursday gave out vehicles to 14 of its missionaries across Nigeria.
At the presentation of the vehicles to the beneficiaries at the church headquarters in Lagos, the General Overseer, Rev. Felix Meduoye, said the donation was to encourage the missionaries’ to function optimally.
The beneficiaries were chosen from 14 out of the 70 districts of the church in the country.
Meduoye, who was represented by the church’s National Secretary, Rev. Ikechukwu Ugbaja, said, “We are doing this because of our concern for the propagation of the gospel.
“This is just to ensure that their capacity is enhanced, not that they have not been functioning well before.”
He said the step was just a pilot scheme as the missionaries in the remaining 56 districts would benefit.
It was learnt that some members of the church donated their personal vehicles, while others provided cash to buy some.
The church’s Director of Mission, Dr. David Oluwasina, said the beneficiaries were field officers.
“We needed to assist them in their God-given assignment because we are concerned about their productivity,” he said.
He explained that another round of donation would come up in about four months time.
One of the beneficiaries, Rev. James Jacob, the church’s Overseer in Minna, Niger State, said the donation would greatly enhance his work in that part of the country.
