Jonathan made his second visit to the presidential villa since he left office on May 29.

The meeting behind closed doors lasted just five minutes. The ex-president arrived at about 2pm and was seen leaving at 2.13pm.

While the reason for his visit was not revealed, the presidency said that Jonathan has the right to visit the office at anytime.

The former president Jonathan reportedly came to brief Buhari on the outcome of the Tanzania poll in which he participated as the leader of the Commonwealth Election Observer Group to observe the conduct of the poll.

Meanwhile, there are suggestions that the ex-president came to find an understanding with the incumbent administration to stop the criticism against his government.

This is based on the fact that Jonathan’s visit came on a day President Buhari restated that he would not stop talking about the “evils” of the immediate past government.

The previous visit of Jonathan to the villa was also made when criticism against his government intensified.

Following questions to the presidency on the agenda of the meeting between Jonathan and Buhari, Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, told reporters that the ex-president could call at the villa at will.

“He has the right to visit the villa anytime as a former president,” the spokesperson said.

At the recent meeting Buhari had reportedly noted that Jonathan had nothing to fear but insisted that there was no going back on the recovery of looted funds.
