According to Vanguard, the prisoners were removed on Tuesday, October 27,  to an unknown destination amidst tight security in the night.

A very reliable source confirmed that the detainees have relocated from the state to the delight of the people residing near the prison yard who have been apprehensive since the news filtered in that the detainees have been brought there.

When the rumours went round the state the Boko Haram detainees were going to brought into Ekwulobia prison four months back, commercial activities were brought to a standstill in Anambra after angry youths protested against the rumoured plan then.

The governor of the state, Willie Obiano had also responded to the rumour describing it as false and mischievous speculation.

When the prisoners were later transferred, the governor retracted his statement and said the transfer of the prisoners was concluded in 2012 under former President Goodluck Jonathan administration and that of his predecessor, Peter Obi.

Reacting to the claim then, the media aide to Peter Obi, Valentine Obienyem, said he was shocked that Governor Obiano would issue such a statement.

According to Obienyem, such a claim would only end up proving to the people that there were more to the relocation than meets the eye.

There were about 134 inmates at the Ekwulobia prison before the 47 Boko Haram prisoners were brought in.
