Police Corporal Arrested For Defiling 3-Year-Old Girl

A police corporal serving at Ugbodo Division in Ebonyi local government area of the state has been arrested by the Juvenile Welfare Centre for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl.

The Nation reports that the suspect, Samuel Okere, committed a horrible act in Ugbodo at the victim’s father’s house, when the girl’s parents had gone for their teaching jobs.

When the parents returned home, their little daughter complained of pains in her private part as she could not walk properly. When the father, Emmanuel Iyiekuna, asked the girl what happened to her, she told him that the police officer inserted something inside her.

The shocked father rushed to Okere’s house, where the policeman allegedly admitted committing the crime. However, he said that he did not insert his manhood and used only his finger. Okere asked Iyiekuna not to disclose the matter to anyone and even offered him N50,000 to take care of the daughter, who was traumatized.

Later, Iyiekuna took his child to a nearby clinic for a medical check. After examining the girl, a nurse told the man that his daughter’s hymen had been broken.

The case of defilement was reported to the state family law centre, a special court in charge of treating such cases and other issues.

Elizabeth Nwali, the chairman of the court, petitioned Peace Ibekwe, the state commissioner of police, over the matter and called for a thorough investigation.

Earlier this month, a similar crime was committed in Abia state. A 41-year-old man, Stephen Akunewu, was arrested by police operatives after he allegedly defiled a 3-year-old girl.
