7 Things You Must Know About PMB’s Ministerial List

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, September 30, submitted his ministerial list to the Senate after the upper chamber ended its plenary session for that day.

The list was conveyed by the chief of staff, Alhaji Abba Kyari and Senator Ita Inang, the senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly matters.

Here are 7 things you should know about the list:

1 The Senate President, Bukola Saraki received the list in a sealed envelope on Wednesday, September 30.

2 The list contains twenty-one names, instead of thirty-six. President Muhammadu Buhari hopes to release the names of other nominees by Tuesday, October 6.

3  Former Anambra state governor's name, Chris Ngige was added to list at the 11th hour.

4  The submission of ministerial list to the senate was also a bit different from the norm where the office of the Senate president through the registry receives it from the special adviser to the president on National Assembly matters (Senate).

5  The former governors of Lagos, Rivers, Ekiti and Anambra states; Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi, Kayode Fayemi and Chris Ngige are among names submitted by the president.

6  The list has four female nominees, they are Mrs Kemi Adeosun, former Ogun state commissioner for finance, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, Mrs Amina J. Mohammed, special assistant to the UN Secretary General on post-2015 development planning and Abike Dabiri, former House of Representative member.

7  Ibe Kachikwu, the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is likely to be minister of state for petroleum as President Buhari has announced himself as oil minister.

President Buhari in the early hours of Thursday, October 1, explained why he sent an incomplete list to the National Assembly late Wednesday, September 30, stating that the delay on the ministerial list was due to the fact he needed time to select those who were credible to run the affairs of the country with him.
