Olu Falae's Kidnap: Police Suspect Fulani Herdsmen

Ondo state police said that, prior to the kidnap on Manday, September 21, Afenifere chieftain, Olu Falae, has had a perennial battle with Fulani herdsmen over incursions into his farmland.

According to Premium Times, police spokesperson Wole Ogodo stated that it was possible the herdsmen masterminded his kidnap. The abductors of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation reportedly have demanded a N100 million ransom for his release.

It was learnet that the commissioner of police in the state had dispatched a 50-man search teach to find Mr. Falae and the culprits. It's headed by a deputy commissioner of police, Isola Abdullahi.

Wole Ogodo also said the Fulani herdsmen, who used to destroy Falae's farm by leading their cattle across his farm for grazing, were made to sign an undertaking to avoid the land.

Meanwhile, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state has summoned an emergency security council meeting to deal with the matter.
