Finally! Former Senate Leader Ndoma-Egba, PDP Part Ways
A former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) has formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party after six months of speculation.
The former Senate leader disclosed his resignation in a letter signed and addressed to the PDP chairman in his Akparabong Ward of Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River state.
Citing reasons for his departure, Ndoma-Egba said that the current policies and direction of the PDP had become inconsistent with his philosophy and commitment to democratic principles.

Ndoma-Egba said: “I returned to politics to pursue certain ideals and values, to contribute towards strengthening democracy, to give a voice to my people, a people who have been most kind and generous to me.
“Before, PDP was strong in Cross River state because it offered members an atmosphere and opportunity for self-expression within its confines. Today, those values that underline democracy have totally become strange to the party.
“I, therefore, resign my membership of the PDP forthwith and urge you to take the necessary steps to reflect this in your records.”

He however expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities given him in the past and wished it well in its future endeavours.
Some months back reports surfaced that Ndoma- Egba was under heavy pressure from the APC to defect from the PDP. The APC was said to have sent party chiefs and senators as emissaries to him but Ndoma refused to yield to their demands.
Ndoma-Egba was however denied the ticket of the PDP to return to his seat, which led to a war of words between him on one hand, and the state PDP chapter and former governor, Liyel Imoke, on another hand.
Ever since, speculation have been rife that Ndoma-Egba would soon defect to the APC as many of his supporters has since moved.
Ndoma-Egba was elected into the Senate in 2003 on the platform of the PDP to represent Cross River Central. He became Senate leader in 2011.
