Newark Airport Employee Charged With Using Stolen ID Of Murdered Man To Appear In Court

A Nigerian man charged with working at Newark Liberty Airport for 20 years using the identity of a murdered New York man is scheduled for a court appearance.

Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole is due in state Superior Court in Newark this morning.

Oyewole was arrested in May and charged with offenses including identity theft. He also faces deportation.

Authorities say Oyewole used the identity of Jerry Thomas, who was shot outside a Queens, N.Y., YMCA in 1992. They say Oyewole bought Thomas' birth certificate to hide his illegal immigrant status.

Police in New York say Thomas sold his documents to a Nigerian cab driver who then sold them to Oyewole, but they don't consider Oyewole a suspect in Thomas' death.
