Nigerian Man Jailed For 10 Years For Drugs Possessions, Visa Violations In India

An Indian Court has sentenced a Nigerian Ojiakor Johnson,  residence of Tilak Nagar to 10 years in jail for possessing illegal  drugs and violations of his business visa.

Indian Police said Ojiakor was nabbed in February last year in Rohini area  along with substances that were tested to be heroin.

Prosecutors told the court that some Nigerians visit Delhi to trade in  illegal drugs and urged the Judge to punish the suspect in order to  serve as deterrence to others with similar intentions.

Judge Umed Singh thus found the suspect guilty of possession of  illegal drugs as well as violating Indian’s Foreigners Act for over- staying his business visa.

The Judge also ordered that the accused be deported after serving  his term adding that a copy of the judgment be sent to the Nigerian  Embassy for the implementation of the deportation order.

In August, two Nigerians Ifeanyi Pascal Obi (26) and Emmanual  Joshua (30) resident in Candolim town in the state of Goa in India  were nabbed following illegal possession of narcotic/psychotropic  drugs.

Police said they believe Infeanyi and Obi are parts of large networks  of drug dealers operating in  the Candolim area.
