JOS – In order to avoid any ugly development, the Plateau State Police Commissioner Emmanuel Ayeni has urged the Muslim Community to stay away for the time being from using the Rukuba road Eid praying ground during the forthcoming Salah Celebration.
Speaking Monday in Jos at a stakeholders meeting where Christian and Muslim faithful were in attendance, the CP said the plea is a temporary measure put in place to forestall any break down in law and order during the celebration.
It would be recalled that violence broke out last November when similar warning was ignored as youths from both religions engaged in a free for all fight which claimed many lives and property destroyed.
Ayeni called on the people in the State to close ranks to ensure peace during the Sallah celebration and beyond.
Contributing, the Assistant National Secretary of JIBWIS, Alhaji Adams Musa Adams said the Muslim community will adhere to the directives of the security agencies and the government of the State to avoid any act capable of eroding the fragile peace the State is currently enjoying
