The Kaduna state deputy governor, Bala Barnabas Bantex, has revealed that N24 billion was recovered by the state government in 423 bank accounts in the state as a result of the government's decision to begin remitting its earnings into a Treasury Single Account (TSA).

He revealed that the accounts were operated by the previous administration in the state and the adoption of TSA brought about the recovery of the funds, Leadership reports.

He also told his audience about the government's plan to bring back the state taxi scheme in urban centres across the state, with plans to distribute 200 branded air condition cars to youths in Kaduna.

He said: “Interested owners are expected to deposit 10 per cent of the car price and 120 of our youths have been shortlisted for training as drivers with the view of empowering them.”

Shedding more light on the government's activities, Bantex said: “We have appointed interim committee chairmen for the 23 local government councils in our state as we pledged during our campaign. The state government has announced that it will not touch a kobo of local government funds.”

He also assured the people that the El Rufai's administration would demonstrate its powers to protect the integrity of public institutions’ lands in schools and hospitals which were encroached.

He also revealed that the recruitment of teachers in core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Sciences and Information Technology had commenced, adding that:“The state government will soon embark on comprehensive schools repairs; furniture, water and toilet will be provided across the state.”
