The Management Board of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital has called on the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti, Mr Sotonye Wakama, to investigate the alleged stealing of N1.9 million from a hospital official.
Dr Kayode Akinlade, the Chairman of the Management Board, made the call while addressing journalists on Sunday in Ado Ekiti.
Akinlade said fresh investigation had become necessary because of the noticeable conflicts in the separate investigations conducted earlier by a panel set up by the hospital’s management and police probing the disappearance of the said money.
The money was said to have been snatched recently by robbers from one of the officials of the Accounts Department on June 15. after cashing the money from a bank in Ado Ekiti
The robbers, who operated on a motorbike, were said to have flagged down the car used in conveying the money on the pretext that it had a flat tyre, and they made the driver to wait beside the road before they pounced on the occupants of the car and took the money at gunpoint.
Akinlade said the board had zero-tolerance for corruption and would not mind going the extra mile to ensure that transparency, probity and accountability are deeply entrenched in the hospital.
