France To Help Nigeria Defeat Boko Haram

Col. Marc Humbert, the French defence attache has praised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for its efforts to wipe out Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

According to PM News, Humbert said this on Wednesday, September 2, when he visited the Nigerian Army Language Institute at Ovim in Isuikwuato, Abia state.

He said that Nigeria and France had a good relationship and that a project was underway to establish exchange programmes that will involve Nigerian soldiers and French military institutions.

He donated some text books to the institution and explained that the relationship between the two countries would help Nigeria in its current predicament.

Col. Joseph Ajanaku, the commander of the institute said the visit was the first of its kind and thanked Humbert for the donation of the books.

Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, the former chief of army staff expressed delight at the realisation of the institution which he considers his brain child. He described it as a manifestation of the promise made by the international communities to assist Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram.

He added that France’s intervention would allow other countries to follow suit and provide Nigeria with support.

In a related development, Colonel Sani Usman said Nigeria was on course to end the Boko Haram insurgency as quickly as possible. He said the army was focusing on beating the three month deadline set by President Buhari.
