Nigeria captain, Joseph Yobo has finally been ruled out of the 2014 Fifa World Cup and 2013 Afcon qualifiers in June, SuperSport.com can report.
Yobo was named among 11 overseas players by Super Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi on Thursday.
But the Nigerian manager has now decided to drop the centre-back following an injury he suffered during the Turkish Cup final for Fenerbahce.
Yobo, SuperSport.com has been informed, will not be fit for the games and Keshi has opted against gambling on him.
Keshi is now expected to name a replacement for his injured skipper.
"Yobo is out of the qualifiers due to injuries. Keshi will name a replacement soonest," informed Super Eagles’ spokesman, Ben Alaiya.
The Everton defender becomes the sixth high-profile player to miss the June games after Joel Obi, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Taye Taiwo, John Mikel Obi and Peter Osaze Odemwingie were left out by Keshi.
