Two police officers and six other persons were reported to have been killed in a Monday night attack by yet to be identified gunmen in Mubi town of Adamawa State.
A witness said the two gunmen arrived at a police station in Mugulbu village in Mubi on motorcycles and opened fire on it after throwing explosives killing two policemen and six other persons.
The attack was followed by multiple explosions and sporadic gunshots, which started in the evening and lasted throughout the night in various parts of the town.
The witness said some of the gunmen drove in a car while others were on motorcycles despite the ban on the use of motorbikes.
The witness told Daily Trust that the gunmen fled the area, leaving the two police officers and six civilians dead.
The PPRO for the state, DSP Ibrahim, confirmed the incident.
