Kano Mass Literacy Programme Targets 400,000 Students

The  Kano State mass literacy campaign is targeting about 400,000 students, the governor of the state, Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso has said.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Umar Ganduje, at the closing ceremony of a 3-day workshop organized by the state’s agency for mass education, said the state is doing its best to eradicate illiteracy from the state. 

He said the 323 trainers who were trained will further train 16,148 teachers in seven designated centers spread across the state. Earlier in his speech, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Farouk Iya Sambo, stated that the mass literacy scheme will immediately take off at the various centers after the completion of the training session.
