Kano State Police Command on Monday diffused a bomb concealed in an aviation gas tube at the Federal College of Education, Kano.
This was contained in a statement by the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, and made available to The Punch in Kano.
Idris said the security unit of the college alerted the police authorities to the strange object found in one of its blocks.
The command said its anti-bomb squad successfully diffused the Improvised Explosive Device without causing any injury or damage to anyone.
The police statement read, “Immediately the Anti-Bomb Disposal Unit of the Command was dispatched to the scene. And on arrival they professionally removed the item which was found to be an IED contained in an aviation gas tube to a safer area and detonated (diffused) it without causing any injury or damage whatsoever.”
Public Relations Officer of FCE, Aliyu Mudi Yakasai, confirmed to newsmen that the police had diffused the IED successfully.
Yakasai assured the residents that normalcy had returned as students and the management of the school had resumed normal activities, with students resuming their lectures and writing their examinations.
“The command is calling on the general public to report any suspicious package or items for necessary action,” Idris said.
