The Ondo State chapters of Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party and Action Congress of Nigeria have concluded arrangements to conduct their primaries on Saturday, July 28 in Akure, Ondo State.
The decision is to meet the August 4, 2012 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of party primaries in the state to select candidates for the October 20, 2012 governorship election.
INEC also gave the date as the deadline for resolution of all disputes within the parties.
The LP Chairman, Chief Olu Ogidan, told the News Agency of Nigeria that Governor Olusegun Mimiko and Mr. Ade Ogunjumelo would vie for the party’s ticket for the governorship seat.
He confirmed that every preparation had been made to ensure that the primary held on Saturday.
The State Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Adesoji Olorunsola, said the party’s primary would hold.
The PDP’s Director of Publicity, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, had earlier said that the party’s primary would hold on July 28, to select its candidate for the October 20, governorship election in the state.
