Agunloye Faults Akande Over Defection 4 years ago 3

Former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye, on Thursday faulted the comments of the National Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Bisi Akande, describing him as “a mole in the party”.

Agunloye, who was one of the aspirants for the Ondo State governorship ticket under the banner of the ACN, on Wednesday defected to the Labour Party.

Apart from describing Agunloye as a mole in the ACN, Akande said the presence of Afenifere leaders at the rally, where Governor Olusegun Mimiko declared his intention to vie for a second term, as a betrayal of the late Obafemi Awolowo’s political group.

But Agunloye, in a statement by the Omoluabi platform spokesman, Mr. Wemi Ajegbemiga, wondered why the ACN leadership pleaded with him not to dump their party if indeed he was a mole.

The statement read, “We are highly disappointed in what Chief Akande said in respect of Dr. Agunloye’s defection to LP. I wish to say that Dr. Agunloye is a man of integrity who believes in service to humanity.”

He challenged Akande to identify the people who were sending messages to him and others in respect of Agunloye and to tell them the credibility of the initiators of the “phony messages”. Home Page
