Error Riddled Document Made Non-Sense Of Ekiti Education Ministry 4 years ago 1

Last month, public primary and secondary school teachers in Ekiti State, numbering about 16,000, refused to sit for the Teachers’ Development Needs Assessment  (TDNA) test recommended by the state.

Their refusal, it was reported, was informed by the fear of losing their jobs should they perform poorly in the test.Justifying their apprehension, the teachers cited the case of similar tests held for some top civil servants in the state that led to either the sack or demotion of some of the officers.

But going by the embarrassing mistakes in the application form currently on sale for admission into the Ekiti State Government Science Colleges to interested candidates throughout the state, it would appear that officials of the state Ministry of Education need the competence test perhaps more than the teachers.

This is because under the part of the form to be torn out and presented as a slip by prospective candidates on the examination day, the ministry has St. Mary’s Girls School, Ikole-Ekiti, written as “St. Mary’s Girl School, Ikere-Ekiti.” It also has Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero-Ekiti, written as “Doherty Memorial Grammmer (Grandma?) School, Ijebu-Ekiti” (see bromide of the form).

But some of the indigenes of the state, who spoke to Daily Sun on the matter are not happy over the development. “It reveals the level of incompetence, sloppiness and inadequacy of knowledge of those, who call themselves custodians of knowledge.

Another indigene of the state, who refused to have his name in print urged the Ministry of Education to punish the perpetrators of the mistakes, irrespective of whose ox is gored. Home Page
