In order to tackle perennial traffic problems within Abuja metropolis, especially during peak hours, the FCT Administration has established mobile courts to sit at designated areas.
FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who stated this when he reviewed the traffic situation in Abuja, said the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) has regular sittings of mobile courts to prosecute traffic offenders.
He said the court seats at AYA, Games Villages, Area One, under Bridge, Maitama Junction by Habiba Super Market, Dei-Dei Junction, Kubwa Junction, Bwari Junction, Dutse Alhaji Junction and Gwagwalada by Giri Junction. According to him, within one month of such sittings, a total of 48 traffic offenders were arraigned to serve as deterrent.
Senator Mohammed further disclosed that while closing the workshops, 22 abandoned vehicles were evacuated, while 10 accident vehicles from Kado Estate roundabout and Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua Expressway (Airport Road) were removed.
“In addition, we evacuated 40 accident and abandoned vehicles from the Abuja Leasing Company’s office in Katampe District,” he added.
