11 Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested By Lagos Police 4 years ago 3

The Lagos police spokesperson, Ms Ngozi Braide, said on Tuesday in Lagos that men of the command had in two days arrested 11 suspected armed robbers, members of different gangs.

Braide told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that three different cars, five fire arms and 11 different types of ammunition,were recovered from the suspects.

Braide said that the Sabo Division of the command arrested two of the suspects on Friday at the Yaba College of Technology, adding that a double barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from them.

She said that three other suspects were arrested at Alakuko on Friday with two locally made pistols, seven live cartridges and a Honda Accord car with Reg. No. KSF 461 AL suspected to have been stolen.

“One other suspect who claimed to live in Badagry, but comes to Lagos metropolis to rob people, was arrested with bullet wounds at Ilemba-Hausa, in the Ojo area of Lagos, following a tip-off.

“He confessed to have received the wound at a robbery operation at Tolu, Ajegunle area of the state,’’ she noted.

She said that three suspects were also arrested after a raid of suspected criminal hideout at No. 24, Bosoro St., Shagari Estate, Ipaja, on Friday.

According to her, one locally made double barrel gun, two live cartridges and a machete were recovered from the suspects.

Braide said another robbery gang that that drove in a convoy, engaged the police from Ijede in a shootout at Ikorodu roundabout, leading to the arrest of two suspects, while others escaped.

“One Baretta pistol marked No. AHH-678, a Brownie pistol, three empty magazines, one wrist watch, one US Dollar and the sum of N1,850 was recovered.

“Cars recovered from the suspects included a Toyota Corolla saloon car with Reg. No. EL 449 GGE, and a Mercedes Benz jeep ML 320, with Reg. No. APP 443 AH,’’ she added.

The police spokesperson said all the suspects and their cases had been transferred to the state CID, Panti, for further investigation, while the police were on the trail of those that escaped. (NAN) Home Page
