An attempt to kidnap two children at Minna General Hospital in Niger State was at the weekend foiled by some security personnel attached to the hospital.
Daily Trust learnt that the attempt to kidnap the children, who are of same parents, was foiled on Saturday morning when their father visited the hospital alongside the children.
It was gathered that the children strayed while their farther was engaged in a discussion with his host; and somehow there was a disagreement around the place that led to a quarrel, a situation that encouraged a suspected kidnapper who disguised as a mediator to whisk them away.
An eyewitness told Daily Trust that the kidnapper who was identified as Salisu Isa was alleged to have kidnapped his victims by offering to take them to their parent.
He said the suspect had succeeded in kidnapping the four-year-old Hajara and her three-year-old younger brother, Mohammed but luck ran out of him when the security personnel attached to the hospital at the gate suspected a foul ploy after he failed to give cogent explanation on how he came about the two kids.
There and then the suspect was arrested and handed over to the police while the children were handed over to their father, it was gathered.
Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer for the state police command DSP Pius Edobor confirmed the incident, saying “the suspect is with us and the matter is being investigated by the Criminals Investigation Department”.
