The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, has appealed to perpetrators of violence to tow the path of dialogue in order to bring an end to wanton killings in the country.

Abubakar said this in a statement by the Secretary of the Sultanate Council, Alhaji Attahiru Hussaini, a copy of which was made available to THISDAY in Sokoto on Friday.

According to him, the perpetrators of violence should desist immediately, sheath their swords and embrace dialogue which is the best option in resolving all problems. The statement expressed the total commitment of the Sultanate Council towards ensuring peaceful co-existence and unity in the country.

“We must use this holy month of Ramadan to reaffirm our resolve of being our brother’s keepers and also eschew violence and intolerance,” the statement read.

It called on Muslims to intensify prayers to seek God’s divine intervention to various problems affecting the Muslim ummah and the country in general.

The statement appealed to traders to desist from hoarding and inflating the prices of foodstuff, clothing and other essential commodities in order to enable fellow Muslims carry out their Ramadan fast with ease.  The statement urged Muslims to re dedicate and devote themselves to the worship of God in order to obtain his blessings.

“While wishing our Muslim brothers and sisters a successful and rewarding Ramadan fast, we urged all to intensify prayers and total devotion to Almighty Allah for his abundant blessings on us and the country,” the statement added. Home Page
