Nobody Can Destroy This Nation - Braithwaite

Dr Tunji Braithwaite, a Pro-democracy activist and national leader of the Nigerian Advanced Party (NAP),  met with President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja.

Although details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, Braithwaite told State House correspondents on his way out of the President’s office that he was in the Villa in the interest of the country.

Clad in his trade mark three-piece green kaftan, the former presidential candidate of NAP said the country was too great to succumb to any threat from `undesirable forces’.

“I am here for the good of the nation. Nobody can destroy this nation. We will not allow it’’ he said.

Braithwaite in January advised the President against seeking foreign assistance to resolve the challenge posed by Boko Haram.

Braithwaite gave the advice at a media parley while speaking on the activities of the sect and the terror being unleashed on innocent citizens in the northern part of the country.

He said that conceding to the pressure for assistance from international community would aggravate the problem rather than solve it. (NAN)
