Don Jazzy At 32: Why We Love Don Jazzy

Popularly known as Don Jazzy, Micheal Ajereh has been known overtime for being the brain behind some of the top Hip Hop musics Nigeria has ever produced.

The Nigerian Multi award-winning record producer, singer-songwriter, musician, former CEO of Nigerian record label Mo' Hits Records (founded in 2004) is a very jovial and playful type to be with. This is evident in the way he reacts to issues on his social media accounts...a tale of some annoying followers on twitter and instagram. However, from our inquisitive and ever-glaring eyes, the singer has shown a high level of maturity when it comes to dealing with people.

The self styled, fashion conscious 'Don Baba' (as some of his colleagues in the industry call him) was born exactly 32 years ago, November 26, 1982. The Umuahia, Abia state born is an indigene of Delta state.

The Ambrose Alli University Business Management graduate is a force to reckon with even on the international scene. He was recently rated as the 36th "Most powerful celebrity in Africa" according to Forbes and he has quite numerous awards to his credit. He's got nominations like World Music Award for World’s Best Song, World Music Award for World’s Best Video amongst many others.

His family moved to Ajegunle city in Lagos state where he was raised, and graduated from Federal Government College Lagos. Don Jazzy had always had a flair for music singing and playing the drums from the age of four. He developed a passion for the bass guitar at the age of 12 He moved to London in the United Kingdom in 2000 after his Uncle invited him to come play the drums for the neighborhood Church.

Although not acknowledging himself as a recording artist, he is responsible for doing most Background Vocals for Artists he produces for and sometimes does complete verses. His musical dexterity can be heard through his beats and well calculated vocals he assists to the likes of D'Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D'Prince and even Jay-Z and Kanye West on their Watch The Throne track Lift Off, featuring Beyoncé.

Don Jazzy presently has a squad of musicians like Tiwa Savage, Reekardo Banks, Korede Bello, D'prince, Deeja, Dr. Sid (who are together called The Mavins ) in his hands and they have been making Nigeria proud in the world's music scene!
