There was commotion in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Wednesday, as some women and their children trooped out to protest the launch of another rocket propelled grenade in the area by some terrorists at about 8.00 p.m. on Tuesday, during curfew hour.
They were also said to be protesting the arrest of some residents by members of the Joint Task Force.(JTF) It will be recalled that some terrorists, on Tuesday, at about 10.00 a.m. in Jos South Local Government, launched a rocket propelled grenade which missed its target and hit a residential building, killing a 10-year-old boy.
Investigation by the Nigerian Tribune revealed that the terrorists, during the curfew hour, launched two rocket propelled grenade into Bukuru town. The first one landed close to Bukuru market, damaging a two-storey building near Kerana Micro-Finance Bank, while the second one, which was fired 30 minutes after the first, landed at Angwan Daba, within the Zenith Bank and STF post. No life was lost.
It was gathered that the arrest caused the early hour protest by women in the area on Wednesday, but the STF and elders in the local government handled the matter with maturity and pacified the women, who later returned to their respective homes.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abu Emmanuel, confirmed that another rocket was launched in the local government on Tuesday during curfew hour, adding that no causalty was recorded and no arrest was made.
