Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State yesterday said it will send a bill to the state House of Assembly to ensure that pipeline vandalization is punishable by death.
He said based on the report before him, some traditional rulers are aiding and abating the crime. The governor warned that any traditional ruler caught will be dethroned and prosecuted. He also decried the alleged involvement of uniform men in the crime.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, chairman of Osisioma traditional rulers council, Eze King Emma Chiaboghinefu, said the Osisioma Petroleum Deport was shut down 8 years ago because of vandalization, and assured the governor that traditional rulers will assist in checkmating the crime.
