A housewife on Wednesday in Lagos made a fervent plea to an Oshodi Customary Court not to dissolve her eight-year-old marriage in spite of her husband’s unfaithfulness.
The woman, Nkechinyere Obi, appealed to the court to save her marriage which had been threatened by her husband’s girlfriend.
“ My husband`s girlfriend has been threatening me and my children on phone, warning me to steer clear of my husband.
“She threatened to deal with me if I do not stop further communication with him.
“I want the court to save my marriage in spite of my husband’s unfaithfulness, “ she said.
She also appealed to her husband, Chukwudi to warn his girlfriend to stop threatening her.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nkechinyere had earlier filed a suit on Dec. 5, 2011 on the grounds that her husband wanted to abandon her and the children to marry his girlfriend.
The couple, who reside at 5, Aremu Street, Mafoluku in Oshodi, have four children.
Nkechinyere alleged that Chukwudi had planned to wed the woman on Dec. 10 and urged the court to stop the marriage.
Chukwudi, however, denied the allegation, saying, “I have no plans of contracting another marriage.
“I only wanted to be separated from my wife, who had denied me of sex.’’
The president of the court, Alhaja A.I. Olorunimbe, directed the husband to continue to give N10, 000 monthly to the wife for the children`s upkeep.
She adjourned the case to Aug. 10 for further hearing. (NAN)
