FCT To Force Down Prices Of Foodstuff By Half

Good times are here for residents of the Federal Capital Territory as the authorities have ordered the release and sale of buffer stock grains from its strategic food reserve.

This is intended to force down the rising prices of foodstuff, which have become a source of concern to the FCT Ministry.

FCT Minister of State, Ms. Jumoke Akinjide, who issued the directive in Abuja on Friday at the sale of the grains said they would be covered by a 50 per cent subsidy.

Akinjide said the FCT Ministry had approved the sale of 11,548 bags of maize as well as 2,196 bags of guinea corn and 5,070 bags of millet to the public, area councils, government agencies and farmers’ associations.
