A sixty-year-old Imam told the court on Monday, August 12, 2013 that he was fed up with his marriage to 25-year-old Busola who, he alleged, was “troublesome”.
Mr. Bello also told the court that Busola embarrassed him in public many times with her “troublesomeness”.
“I want this court to separate us because I am not enjoying the marriage anymore; she fights everyone in the neighbourhood and I suspect her of infidelity,” he said.
Busola, who works as a trader, did not agree to the dissolution of the marriage. She addressed the court stating that she had never disrespected her husband in public.
“I have not offended him in anyway. He has never seen me with any other man.
“Even though he has not been able to provide for my upkeep, I still love him,” Busola, a mother of one told the court.
She added that Mr. Bello had stopped giving her feeding allowance.
After hearing both of the parties, the president of the court, Raheem Daudu, adjourned the case to September 9 for possible reconciliation between the spouses.
