It has been revealed by Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, Police Public Relations Officer, in the statement announced on August 11, 2013, Sunday.
He said that the suspects were arrested shortly as the result of an operation in the area.
“The efforts of the Ogun State Police command to get the state rid of hoodlums yielded fruit on Saturday when the policemen attached to Ibara Division led by the Divisional Police Officer SP Oyewole Emmanuel, arrested 11 suspected armed robbers around 4.15 a.m. at Itori Oke area in Abeokuta metropolis.
“The arrest was made possible as a result of a distress by the members of the Vigilante Service of Ogun State in the area”, the PPRO said.
The suspects were identified as Ishola Yusuf, Aremu Ismaila, Adebayo Adeola, Seun Daramola, Ebunoluwa Oyinbo, Rasheed Ahmed, Adejare Oluwaseun, Rasaki Disu, Sunday Egbejinmi, Abiodun Soroyehun and Sodiq Ajayi.
Mr. Adejobi also added the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had ordered that the suspects be thoroughly investigated while they were detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran Abeokuta.
“The suspects will be charged to court after investigations”, the PPRO summed up.
