A three-man gang of dare devil armed robbers at the weekend attacked the home of the immediate past force public relations officer, Mr Shola Amore, a deputy commissioner of police (DCP), in Alakuko area, Lagos State, carting away valuables worth large amount of money.
The robbery according to sources is the third in less than two months on the same street.
Residents of Ademola Abiola Street said the robbery operation took place at about 3:00pm, Saturday, after the hoodlums had trailed DCP Amore’s wife from the venue of a social event to the house before wreaking the havoc.
It was also gathered from one of the heads of the local vigilante group in the area, (name withheld) that the hoodlums entered the DCP’s home with the wife.
Neighbours said the robbers carted away several items including cash, jewellery and other unspecified valuables.
“They followed madam on a motorcycle and after robbing the woman, they started shooting sporadically into the air and that was how one of the bullets hit Mummy Samuel,” the head of the local security guards said.
It was gathered that before raiding the police officer’s residence, the same gang of armed robbers had allegedly robbed a branch of popular pentecostal church, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM), at Alakuko bus stop, Lagos/Abeokuta expressway
It was gathered that in a bid to facilitate their smooth escape, the robbers who attacked DCP Amore’s house fired several shots in the air and a stray bullet hit a female trader in the house next to the DCP’s. She was said to have been severely injured and was still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Ngozi Braide, could not be reached for confirmation of the incident as several calls to her mobile telephone line were unsuccessful.
