Okelele community of Ilorin East local Government Area of Kwara state was shaken over the death of a secondary school principal, who let out his last breath during Tarawih Ramadan prayer on Wednesday night.
The eyewitnesses narrate that the school principal, Mr Hassan Alabi, was prostrating during the prayer, but later would not stand up.
Some members of the congregation said they felt confused when they saw that the man remained in the same position.
The ensuing confusion brought the prayer to an unexpected end, as members of the congregation struggled to bring the school principal back to life.
Some elders of the community took the body of the deceased to his house. Initially, they have expressed optimism that the late school administrator would regain consciousness, but, unfortunately, he did not.
His remains have since been buried according to Islamic rites.
Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oriire, who performed the burial rites, admonished all to be conscious always of their deeds, saying no one knows when or where death would meet them.
