Mobitel Plans To Consolidate Cashless Project

One of the leading broadband service providers, Mobitel Limited, has announced plans to extend its essential operations beyond the domain of Lagos State, where it currently enjoys over 90 per cent patronage.

To achieve this, the company disclosed that it has already embarked on aggressive procurement of sophisticated modern equipments to carryout the operations in most enhanced and effortless manner.

Besides, the company said it had been stepping up technical operations intended at easing smooth operations and effectiveness of the newly introduced Cashless Society initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), especially through broadband usage.

Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Mr. Johnson Salako, while speaking at the Cashless Lagos Fair organsied by Business World in conjunction with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Lagos State Government recently, said Mobitel differentiates on consistency and reliability of speed while also providing a unique array of innovative Value Added Services (VAS) to customers, which makes it suited to provide a solid support to financial institutions, mobile money operators and their customers.

In order to achieve the objective of driving the cash-less project, Mobitel also revealed that it would continue to lead in the design and provision of innovative solutions that are affordable to enable banks and other financial service providers enjoy seamless operations.

The alternatives, which the Cash-less project offers, include payment transactions, using cards operated from POS Machines and ATMs, mobile Money and Internet banking. The implication of this therefore is that the POS machines, ATMs must be available always for use and should be active and operational at all time. “This consistency and reliability is only possible through the power of broadband, an area where Mobitel enjoys huge comparative advantage,” Salako added.

The company also revealed that there are plans to expand the network beyond Lagos where the company has achieved over 90% coverage.
