The controversy over music star Innocent "2face" Idibia acceptance of a controversial Toyota Prado SUV gift from the profligate governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio, is finally over.
The Akwa Ibom state government released a photo today showing Mr. Idibia looking on as the commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah presented the car keys to Annie Macauley–Idibia in the presence of her husband and a friend, Jackson Udom.
A source within the Akwa Ibom State Government said Mr. Akpabio had to hurriedly deliver the car to avoid the humiliation that might come from the musician rejecting the gift.
"The governor didn't want to allow time and space for critics to convince the musician to reject the gift," the source said. "He believes that might dent his image."
