However, the 32-year-old accepts that situation might change if new manager Mark Hughes decides he is surplus to requirements and decides to sell in order to bring in another striker.

"Of course I am happy here, and happy to stay," Crouch told the Sentinel. "I have had a few moves in my career and had lots of different clubs, so there has been speculation pretty much every year.

"As long as I know the manager is happy and I am happy, I don't think there is anything to be done.

"I haven't been seeking a move or thought about one. But you never say never. If the manager thought it best and something came up that's best for the club, that's up to them."

The 32-year-old England international was strongly linked with a move back to QPR, and a reunion with Harry Redknapp, in January.

But he said he was excited about Stoke's prospects under new management and already sensed a change in mood, adding: "If this week is anything to go by, I think there will be a big improvement. Hopefully, we will push on and challenge the top ten.

"The manager has certainly got some different ideas from the last manager, who did great at the club. Previously, we have been running in the first week of pre-season without even seeing the ball, so it's nice to get straight into the football."

Meanwhile, Trinidad & Tobago striker is at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States, where his team are through to the quarter-finals.

Stoke assistant boss Mark Bowen said: “With us being new to the club and players, it would be better to have him here."

If Trinidad & Tobago win at the weekend, Jones – a transfer target in the past for Aston Villa and Swansea and now possibly for newly-promoted Cardiff – could miss a further chunk of pre-season.
