Cynthia Wachenheim was pronounced dead at the scene but she had broken the fall of her 10-month-old son, Keston
A baby boy who was in a woman's arms as she fell eight storeys from a city apartment window in an apparent suicide, has survived.
Cynthia Wachenheim, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene but she had broken the fall of her 10-month-old son, Keston.
A seven-page suicide note was found inside the apartment, under the bed.
Police found them at apartments in New York and took the tot to hospital, where he was said to be in a critical but stable condition.
Steven Dominguez, 18, was walking to a grocery store with his mother when he saw the woman fall.
"I heard a scream like a yell," he said. "When I got closer, I saw the baby crying."
He said the baby was face down. "I was shocked," he said. "I couldn't believe it."
