Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema yesterday in Abuja disclosed his intention to revitalize 70 almajiri selected schools in the state.
Shema, who disclosed this at a meeting with Katsina state indigenes in Abuja, noted that the schools located in the 34 local government areas would be provided teaching materials. He said the teachers would also be paid allowances while the students would be provided with uniforms and food.
He said the exercise would commence on the first day of the month of Ramadan (next week).
Shema also disclosed that the state government has uplifted girl-child education by establishing girls’ schools in each of the local government areas and that the state has also abolished the payment of N7, 000 fees in secondary schools and reduced fees in state-owned tertiary schools to about N14, 000 per annum per student.
