Inter Milan's Nigerian midfielder Joel Obi has been ruled out for the rest of the season following surgery.
The 21-year-old midfielder is reported to have undergone an operation in Finland to strengthen his quadriceps tendon, and has consequently been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 2012/13 season has been one to forget for the young player who was left out of Nigeria's victorious Nations Cup squad as a result of injury.
He has only managed to play four games in all competitions for the Italian giants this season, playing twice in the Serie A and once each in both Italian Cup and the Europa League.
Obi's latest injury setback is a blow to Inter who lost yesterday's home game 1-0 to Bologna.
The club already have several other high profile players ruled out for the rest of the season including Argentine striker Diego Milito.
The Nigerian is contractually bound to Inter Milan until the summer of 2017.
