31 drivers and motorcyclists have been convicted by a mobile court sitting in Ayedaade Local Government, Osun State for traffic offences.
The offenders were arrested by the state command of the Federal Road Safety Corps during a special operation of the sector in Gbongan-Osogbo area.
The court was presided over by a magistrate, Mr. Ademola Ayeni who convicted the suspects and charged them with offences ranging from reckless driving to overloading, not using crash helmets.
Sector commander, Mr. Imoh Etuk, said the various sentences would help check reckless driving in the state.
The commander of the Corps said the convicts were given an option of fine that ranged between N2,000 and N5000, depending on the gravity of the their offences.
Etuk warned that the exercise would be continuous and urged motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations.
He also stressed that the commission would check reckless driving on the highways and appealed to the road users to help in reducing accidents in the country.
