An entrepreneurial mother who was tired of grueling diets and unstylish control pants created a unique slimming product after desperately taping her tummy up ahead of a night out.
Karen Macauley, 45, had spent years trying different exercise routines and Bridget Jones pants to hide excess skin following the birth of her four children.
But her eureka moment came when she found herself desperately taping up her tummy using extra strong sticky tape ahead of a night out.
The product works by taping the stomach to the upper thigh to stop it from bulging out from under clothing.
She added: 'I had tried everything - diets, big Bridget Jones pants, control pants - but I just found I would bulge out somewhere else and felt very restricted.
'I used to say anything as an excuse to avoid going out as I hated my body. It really began affecting my life and I became a recluse.'
Karen has promised to plough money from the business into recovery centres for those struggling with body image issues.
She said: 'Tum-Tape was never about building a business - it’s about building a better future.
'It’s helped me deal with my own body issues, to the extent that I now feel like a different person.
'If it gives just one woman her confidence back or helps her feel fabulous when she wants to then that’s how I’ll measure success.'
