The Lagos State Government has given some cash gifts to families of three dead officials of Neighbourhood Watch, its grass roots security outfit.
The government also donated money to another official of NW, who suffered from partial stroke.
It said the token was meant to complement what the families of the deceased spent to bury their loved ones, while it will also help in offsetting medical bill of the official with partial stroke.
One of the officers, Hussain Layembi, 62, died during a training session for NW officers in May. His 38-year-old son, Lukman, was given N500, 000.
The family of late Abiodun Okedairo was given N200, 000. His daughter, Titilayo received the money on behalf of the family, saying his father died of hypertension.
The family of late Sanni Daura, another NW official, was given N200,000 to defray his burial expenses.
The official who suffered from stroke, Mr. Solomon Osineye, got N200,000.
Commissioner for Urban Development, Cornelius Ojelabi, said, “No amount of money given to you will be commensurate to your loved ones. The token is just to appreciate their contribution.
