Tinapa Records 60% Off-peak Visitors Traffic

As the number of foreign investors with appetite to invest in Nigeria continues to increase, and with Calabar, Cross River State, receiving an ample number of these visitors, Tinapa Business Resort, the city’s top business tourism destination is said to be receiving at least 60 percent off-peak visitors, an independent online poll report said.

Also, the online poll survey said Tinapa’s Lakeside Hotel is recording at least the same percentage of off-peak occupancy rate; and now ranked among Nigeria’s best used hospitalities.

The managing director of Tinapa, Bassey Eyo Ndem, while confirming this at the weekend in Calabar, said, the management was happy that the place was doing well, despite challenging business climate.

Ndem told the Cross River council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by its chairman, Ndoma Akpet, which paid a visit, that, “Management is happy that, Lakeside Hotel at the resort (Tinapa) is doing well, recording over 60 percent guests off peak period; and was recently rated the best in the state by users in an online independent poll.”

He said the leisure aspect of the resort which also includes the Water Park and the children arcade are doing well, and the management is hoping to work on the sand beach which would be the best of its kind east of the Niger.

On the trade aspect of the Tinapa Resort, the Managing Director said the company was looking up for more investors and business concerns to take up the shopping space; adding that those already doing business at the resort were now collaborating amongst themselves to pull in more local patronage, by introducing a bus transport fleet from designated routes in the heart of Calabar to Tinapa daily.

The MD said Tinapa still remains the only place where there is 24-hour electricity supply, even though this comes at a huge cost to the resort management.

He said there is joy that Tinapa was now having better business fortune, and more investors were showing interest.

“It gives us joy that, apart from tourists and those coming from outside the state, the locals are also sharing in the dream of Tinapa by more patronage.

“You can see local families coming to have a time out in Tinapa at weekends and even the host community has been very cooperative in many aspects including security,” stated Ndem.

The NUJ Cross River council chairman, Ndoma Akpet and his team commended the Tinapa management for good maintenance culture of the resort’s facilities to its 2007 inaugural level.

The NUJ lauded the Tinapa management team led by Bassey Ndem, an architect, for excellent maintenance and management of the resort, which is now attracting more patronage, and posting better fortunes.

Akpet pledged the commitment of journalists in the state to continuous projecting of Tinapa Resort to tourists, investors and leisure seekers across the globe.
