Association of Newspapers Vendors, ANV, Oyo State, Tuesday, said members would from today (Wednesday) go ahead with the planned strike over alleged harassment and high-handedness by officials of the State Government.
The group accused government officials of constituting a nuisance to newspapers vendors.
This came as the umbrella body for vendors in Oyo said it had not seen any concrete assurances from Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the State Police Command to check activities of the government officials popularly called YES-O.
Though, the governor had said he would meet the vendors for amicable resolution of the crisis, as at the time of filing this report, nothing had been done.
The vendors claimed they had been severally extorted, intimidated, harassed and manhandled by YES-O men.
