A middle-aged man, Luqman Agoro, has dragged his wife, Saidat before a Customary Court sitting in Agege, Lagos.
He claimed his wife was stubborn and denied him access to his child, hence the need for the court to dissolve their marriage.
“She does not listen to me; she does anything her mother wants her to do. She does not mind if it’s bad or good and she keeps to herself,” Luqman had told the court.
He added that there was a time his mother-in-law demanded for his nails, probably for rituals, but his wife didn’t tell him until he was confronted in person by his mother in-law.
“She doesn’t listen to me; but she does anything her mother tells her with dispatch,” he said.
He accused Saidat of abandoning her matrimonial home because he asked her to stop attending the church her mother attends.
On the other hand, Saidat claimed that Luqman threw her out of their home because she gave birth to a baby girl.
“My husband threw me out of my matrimonial home for giving birth to a baby girl.
“He had warned me earlier that if I give birth to a baby girl I would not live under the same roof with him and that he would not be responsible for the child upbringing,” she said.
She pleaded with the court to grant her the custody of their baby, adding that Luqman will not take good care of the girl.
