Vigilance Group Leader Kills Friend In Edo

The head of a local vigilance group, at Upper Uwa and Amadasun Street, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Lucky Amadasun, has reportedly killed his friend, identified as Amaosa Otabor.

The late Amaosa, 27, who was reportedly shot on the chest, died instantly.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred at Amadasun’s residence, Sunday evening, after an argument between Amadasun and one Osasu.

A cousin of the victim, Felix Ekhator, said they were told about the incident at about 7.30pm, but before they got there, their brother’s body had been taken to the mortuary.

Ekhator claimed they had repeatedly informed the police about the activities of the suspect, but that the police insisted on granting licence to the vigilance group, the suspect headed.

Irked by the tragic turn of event, friends of the late Amaosa razed the residence of his killer’s father.

Also burnt were a vehicle parked in front of the house and a motorcycle.

When contacted, Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguaveon, confirmed the incident and said investigation had commenced.
