PDP Chieftain Attacked By Hoodlums In Nasarawa

Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs yesterday attacked a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Yahaya Bunu at Awe town in Nasarawa State.

After damaging his car, the hoodlums also inflicted injuries on the politician. He was rushed to the hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

Bunu was at Awe, the headquarters of Awe Local Government Area for the launch of the PDP’s campaign for the July 7, by-election into the Awe North state constituency seat which became vacant following the death of Hon. Yakubu Faransa last month.

The PDP chieftain told journalists on his hospital bed that he was attacked when he went to pick his sister in-law at the palace of the Emir of Awe after the rally.

He said: “When I went to pick my sister in-law at the palace, I ran into a roadblock and a group of hoodlums started throwing stones at me indiscriminately, hitting me in the face and chest. I was rescued by some security operatives who were there and rushed me to hospital in Awe.”
