A teenage boy axed his father to death in India after learning that he was to marry for a fifth time, reports said Friday.
The 62-year-old was attacked by his 15-year-old son on Tuesday, February 5, at his home in Palghar town, about 120 kilometres north of Mumbai, police inspector A.J. Sindkar told the Indian news agency.
The boy was angered that his father -- who has been divorced three times and widowed once -- planned to tie the knot again soon, threatening the youngster's inheritance prospects, police said.
The boy was also angry with his father for selling a part of the family's property in Palghar and giving away the money to some other people, instead of him.
However, he later cooked up a story about his father's death but police cracked the case and arrested him.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is being held on remand after being charged with murder.
