Lagos and River states chapters of the Action Congress of Nigeria has said with the formation of the All Progressive Congress, the end is in sight to the reign of the Peoples Democratic Party in the country.
The party said this was one of the few positive developments that had come to Nigerians.
The chapters said, “All Nigerians should ensure that this new party is allowed to end the tales of misery, anguish and pain, which the PDP has levied on Nigeria since the past 14 years.”
In a statement in Lagos, by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, the party warned all the members and supporters of the new party “to be warry of the antics of the PDP who had demonstrated clear anxiety over the merger”.
He said, “The various parties that came together handled the merger mandate with an uncommon dexterity that defied the well known tricks the PDP employs as divisive ploys to frustrate similar moves in the past.
“We bet that as the PDP never believed we have come this far, the same party that has gone rustic with archiac means of sustaining corruption in all facets of life, will surely be rusticated soon.”
The Rivers State ACN Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jerry Needam, said in Port Harcourt on Thursday that the merger would spell the end of one party system in the state.
Needam added that the recent development would put a stop to the disregard for the rule, self-centredness and act of profligacy by the ruling party.
